My multi-genre project is about how people crave to be noticed but conform to what everyone else around them is doing.

Poll Results
So I asked all of you to take this poll about what you would want to be a part of: a flas mob, a harlem shake video, or a gangnam style dance off. Of the 26 people that voted 16 said flash mob and 6 said a harlem shake and 4 said gangnam style. So does this mean that all of you would perfer to be a part of a group instead of making a fool out of yourself on your own?

Memes
What started off as planking has transformed yet again into superman-ing. Teens find the most inconvienent places to act out.
Why conform
I look around me and all I see are the young kids of our generation conforming to what a few deem fun and entertaining. Back in my day when we were hanging out with our friends we didn't jump up on tables like hoochies and dance while someone videotaped us; that was reserved for strippers in the clubs. We didn't justify acting like a hoodlum by saying that it was only for a youtube video. Slowly the internet has corrupted this generation into thinking that these 'Harlem Shake' videos are exceptable. What is it really? Kids act completely out of control for thirty seconds, however, in that thirty seconds they have put themselves out there for the entire world to see, the consiquences of acting like a hoodlum will stay with them for the rest of their life. The 'Harlem Shake' has become so popular that teenagers in school are dancing along side by side with their teachers, they actually took time oiut of their school day to act like strippers. We send our kids to school to learn, not to be dancing on tables. I for one am glad that a teacher was recwntly fired foir allowing his students to partake in this particularly vulger video. It only took one group of people to start the 'Harlem Shake' dance fad' and it will take a lot more than one teacher getting fired for it to end.
However, the truely sad part is that our teenagers are so set on being noticed and remembered that they would subject themselves to being a hoochie dancing on a table that anyone with a computer could find on youtube. Our kids are too afraid of being their opwn person that they immatate those around them to the point where their entire generation meshes into the mastakes of the few. Our kids are so dead set on being their own person and being remembered that they actually conform to those around them. They act out and put it on youtbe for all to see. Here's hoping that when they look back in 10 years they don't regret their choices.
